Cordell's First Hunt

Cordell took the Hunter Training Course earlier this year and is now able to hunt. He and his dad went out for two days (Nov. 12 & 13). He shot a 4-point buck on the first day but missed a couple of does on day two. He was really excited and even happier when he heard that his brother Jay's first deer was only a d3-point. I have a few more pictures of the actual deer thanks to Scot & Christine Nelson. I hope to upload them soon.

Dale & Shari's House

My brother Dale and his family are finally in their house. They still have some work to do, but they are finally sleeping in their own beds. They were really lucky we had such a mild fall this year.

Labour Day Weekend

The Labour Day long weekend was a very busy one for our family. This year my mom & dad will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on October 11th. We surprised them with an early anniversary present by gathering our family together. Jay, Liz & Cheyenne flew in from Kansas on Friday afternoon and Kirby and Dan drove down from Edmonton Friday night. Mom & dad didn't know any of my family were coming. Saturday morning we all drove out to their farm and gave them quite a surprise. We spent the day with them and my brother & sister-in-law Dale & Shari and their family Brody, Colton & Jennifer. Sunday a few friends and family came out to the farm to help with the celebration. I think everyone had a great time. Louis kept saying that this was the best thing we could have ever done. The last time our family was all together was about 10 years ago. Great weekend but unfortunately it had to end. After quite a few tears everyone left on Monday morning.

Summer Holidays

Hi everyone! Just joined the world of bloggers. I've been having a great summer break. It started with a little work however. Nestor and I planted hedges along the east and south side of the fence in our back yard. I then painted the trim around the outside of the windows and our exterior doors. Everything was looking pretty good until a huge storm hit on July 15th. We had straight line winds that blew in and did some damage to my flowers, trees and hedges, however we were luckier than a lot of Bow Island/Burdett and area residents. The storm tore down power lines, uprooted trees, blew down grain bins and took the roof off of several buildings. Pretty scary stuff!

My holidays improved when Cordell and I went to the Johnson Family Camp-Out from July 18th to 20th at Sync Line in Kaninaskis country. We had a great time visiting with relatives. At one point there were about 95 friends and family in attendance. Unfortunately Nestor had to work and couldn't join us.

On July 22nd Cordell and I hit the road and drove to McPherson Kansas to see Jay, Liz and Cheyenne. Nestor flew down a week later. We spent a lot of time playing with our granddaughter. Cheyenne wasn't very fond of Grandpa's mustache and he was determined to get a kiss from her so needless to say the mustache had to go. It took Cord and I a bit of time to get used to it but I think he looks great without it.

My holidays are nearly over as I will be returning to work on August 20th. Oh well all good things must come to an end.
